    Some of our Favourite Plants

Nothing boosts your mood like a houseplant! They're the perfect addition to any space as we welcome the warmer weather. Taking care of our leafy friends always leaves us feeling better. If you're looking for a houseplant, but not sure where to start, here's a look at some of our faves to give you some inspo.

Monstera Deliciosa - This easy-to-grow plant has large heart-shaped leaves. It grows about a foot a year with a mature-size height of 3' and 2-3' width. Bright indirect sunlight provide the most favourable environment for your Monstera to thrive. A deep pot with drain holes works well. Water every week or 2 until water leaks from the drainage holes. Growth naturally tends towards sunlight For balanced growth, turn your Monstera weekly to encourage even growth.

Money Tree - A symbol of prosperity and wealth, the money tree is a popular gift. Bright indirect sunlight is best for optimal growth, but your money tree can survive in low light too. A pot with drainage holes works well to ensure proper drainage post watering. Overwatering is more harmful than underwatering. As your money tree grows you will need to re-pot it from time to time. As a general rule, you want a pot with a diameter as wide as the plant's foliage. When repotting a money tree, keep the soil mixture consistent (peat moss, perlite, and sand with fertilizer mixed in). The best temperature for your money tree's health is between 60-75F.

Snake Plant - Welcome to the jungle! Snake plants are easy to grow and can reach a height of 8'. Snake plants can vary in color although many have green-banded leaves and commonly feature a yellow border. They will thrive in very bright or dark corners of your home. Snake plants prefer indirect but steady light with some direct sun. Planting and repotting is best done in the spring. Let the soil dry between waterings. During the winter, reduce watering to monthly, or whenever the soil is dry to the touch. Err on the side of under-watering; too much water can harm the plant.

Rattlesnake Plant - The plant can grow up to 30 inches tall, and the large leaves have a variegated pattern with various shades of greens and a wavy pattern along their edges. Even the undersides of the foliage are eye-catching with their beautiful purplish-red tones. Filtered light is the best option. If you want to have your rattlesnake plant in a window, select one that doesn't have intense afternoon sun streaming through it, or diffuse the light with drapes. A bright spot in a well-lit room away from the direct light in a window can work well, too. Frequent small waterings are required rather than deep irrigation. Water the plant until it just starts to slightly trickle out of drainage holes (do not water so much that it is quickly streaming out of the bottom). Do not let the plant sit in the excess water. Pour the excess water out and do not pour it back into the plant.

No matter how green (or not green) your thumb is, these houseplants will make a great addition to any space! You can find these in-store alongside our other houseplants + we hope they become faves for you too!
